The Daily Harvest

Tucked into the front-side of the much-loved yellow Victorian building on Lyons Avenue in Newhall is one of my favorite small spots in the city, The Daily Harvest. The cold-pressed juicery and cafe boasts a tasty menu featuring organic and locally sourced ingredients in a welcoming, rustic setting, steps away from the expanding area of Downtown Newhall.

Now, I’m a meat-loving, mashed potato and gravy kinda girl. During my past career as a travel writer, I once spent 3 months traveling Europe with the sole intent of eating pork for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I succeeded my goal, and even found most snacks in-between to contain pork, so generally speaking anyone who knows me would more than likely laugh at the thought of me seeking out such a healthy restaurant on my own. So with that said, you know The Daily Harvest MUST be a great find!!

I suggest trying their avocado toast, and adding a poached egg and smoked salmon on top for the perfect not-too-filling bite to get you through the day. Pair your small plate with the cold-pressed juice flight, which consists of 8 of their 10 juices (they pick the selection.) This last visit they were out of one of the selections, but substituted it with their watermelon and mint juice which was absolutely fantastic!

My absolute favorite of the juices is #10, the almond cold brew, which is made up of cold brew coffee, almonds, dates, vanilla and sea salt. If I could order that in a giant bucket, I would…. it’s that good!
